Celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight and Play Your Part in the Fairtrade Movement

Fairtrade Fortnight is an event that gives you and your family the opportunity to show your support for the Fairtrade movement. Running from 26th February to 11th March 2018, there are events involving everyone from schools to faith groups throughout the UK.

Fairtrade is a simple way to improve the lives of those who grow the things we value. It’s a way to set standards and certify products and ingredients. The Fairtrade Foundation works with producers to see that they advocate for themselves. These efforts help to set prices that guarantee a meaningful sum for the producers.

They also lobby the government and work with companies that buy goods like Fairtrade chocolate. Plus, they bring public awareness to the total value proposition of Fairtrade.

How You Can Be a Part of Fairtrade Fortnight

There are two simple ways you can take part.

#1 Organise an event

It’s not as daunting as you might think. There are resources available to make it as easy as possible to get started.

It’s hard to get others excited about joining you if you aren’t up-to-speed with the topic. You’ll find a presentation with notes on the Fairtrade site to help prepare yourself. Then you can decide on the best way to educate those you would like to become a part of your event. There is also a list of speakers that you can engage for your event.

Maybe a faith-based approach works best for you. There are materials ready and waiting to get you on your way!

If a school program would be more your style, there are resources on hand for that as well.

You’re not on your own. If you run into a jam, you can reach Fairtrade for help at mail@fairtrade.org.uk.

When your event is set, don’t forget to upload the info so that others will be able to find you and show their support. All that’s required is to upload all your information!

#2 Attend an event

Full-up with commitments? How about attending an event instead, either at your business, school or faith centre.

Browse the listings page for events throughout the UK. There’s many just waiting for you and your family to pick the right one.
